Microsoft is gearing up for the 2015 holiday season with a new 1TB Xbox One bundle which includes three games for a great price of USD $399.
According to Game Rant, Microsoft hopes that this new bundle will help increase sales as the Xbox One continually lags behind the PlayStation 4 in sales. In the last quarter alone, PlayStation 4 outsold Xbox One almost 2 to 1 in units. This is strange considering Xbox One can be considered the superior console in several different categories.
Will this new bundle be able to recover the ground that Microsoft has lost over the past few quarters? According to Forbes, probably not, but head of Xbox Phil Spencer believes that the new Xbox One bundle that is being made available will help. Spencer believes that the growth of the Xbox One has been faster and more stable than that of the Xbox 360.
Does this mean that Xbox One has lost the current generation console wars? Well, according to Spencer, the concept of there actually still being a console war is outdated and that he believes in the product and assures that the Xbox One is actually selling well. With the announcement of the new holiday bundle, sales should continue to improve.
With the bundle, Microsoft is offering a 1TB Hard Drive Xbox One Unit, one wireless controller and three Xbox One exclusive titles. These titles are: "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition," "Rare Replay" and "Ori and the Blind Forest." Both "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" and "Rare Replay" will be given in disc form while "Ori and the Blind Forest" will have to be downloaded.
According to Xbox News, "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition" will allow players to experience the original game in the series in 1080p, as well as play the other titles in the series, through backwards compatibility, starting December 31, 2015. The best news about these games is that the other titles in the series will be available for download with no additional cost.
"Rare Replay" will allow players to play classic games from the game developer Rare; these games include such gems like "Battletoads" and "Banjo Kazooie." The disk itself will contain 30 games from Rare, which is also the company responsible for the first two "Killer Instinct" games.
The Xbox One holiday bundle is already available in stores, and players are advised to contact their local game shop, or check online for availability.
