Just when you thought that there couldn't possibly be a new contender for the role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling erotic novel, news pops up on the web that 'Magic Mike' star Channing Tatum is gaining popularity among '50 Shades' fans.
LOOK magazine reported that British girl group Little Mix was all for the actor getting the part, nominating the "Sexiest Man Alive" as the best pick for the coveted role.
Group member Jade first recommended Tatum when asked by the magazine who would be their ideal Christian Grey. Fellow members Jesy, Perrie and Leigh-Anne all agreed. "He'd be insane..." Leigh-Anne added.
Despite the support from Little Mix and his fans, Tatum faces hard competition for the role of the sexy millionaire. Fans have repeatedly chosen 'White Collar' actor Matt Bomer and 'Vampire Diaries' actor Ian Somerhalder as top contenders.
It is also important to note that Tatum has told reporters that the only way he'll take the part is if his wife, Jenna Dewan, takes the role of Anastasia Steele. No casting decisions have yet been made for the role of 21-year-old Ana.
Since purchasing the rights to the film earlier this year, Universal Pictures and Focus Films have only confirmed the hiring of producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti, along with screenwriter Kelly Marcel. The first film of the series, 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' is not yet scheduled for theatrical release.
