Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently scheduled to release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles in spring 2013. While Rockstar has mentioned in the past that a PC version hasn't been ruled out, the developer doesn't seem to be too interested in making one at the moment. This has some gamers annoyed - which is why there's now a petition to get Rockstar to create a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5.
The petition, started by Mike Julliard from Yarmouth, Canada, reads as follows:
"To: Rockstar Games
Please release GTA V on PC. GTA games have been a large part of so many peoples lives and it's a big shame not seeing the newest iteration of the game being released on the most powerful platform. Things like modifications have always been a HUGE part of PC gaming and modded GTA is some of the most insanely fun times you can have.
I hope you consider the release of GTA V on PC as it'll make many people very happy!"
Julliard states that the reason for starting the petition is "because GTA is an amazing game and the idea of it not being on PC is a mistake!"
To sign this petition, you can head over to change.org and add your signature to the growing list. The petition needs 100,000 signatures, and at the time of this article has accumulated almost 65,000 supporters.
In an interview with IGN, Rockstar's vice president of creativity Dan Houser stated that Rockstar hasn't ruled out making Grand Theft Auto 5 on any platform. Rather, the developer does so where there's an "appropriate business opportunity."
Previous Grand Theft Auto titles have released on the PC, although the series has always released on consoles first. This petition may be one of the best ways for PC gamers craving Grand Theft Auto 5 to make Rockstar release a PC version sooner rather than later. Given Rockstar's steadfast commitment to its own agenda, however, don't get your hopes up too high.
