Fans of the hit TV series "Scandal" have been waiting for four seasons on certain resolutions to the burning question in everyone's mind: Will Fitz and Olivia officially get together?
Well, if fans follow the trailer that has been put up on YouTube, the answer could be yes. Looking at the trailer, it opens with Olivia and the president in bed with the song "At Last" playing in the background. As the trailer goes on, viewers see Fitz delivering divorce papers to Mellie. With these two things happening in what could be the very first episode of season 5, then fans might expect Olivia to become the first lady.
Season 5 will also return the show to what made it so popular in the first place: the team that Olivia put into place called the Gladiators. Den of Geek reports that the Gladiators took a back seat during most of the last two seasons as they were busy with healing Olivia, especially with Olivia being kidnapped during season 4 and when Olivia was forced into exile the previous season by her father to escape the aftermath of Olivia being revealed as the president's mistress.
The Gladiators have gone their separate ways in the past few seasons. Abby has gone on to become the Press Secretary for the White House while Harrison was killed at the end of Season 3. It's up to the remaining gladiators to deal with the repercussions of their actions over the past few seasons, mainly with Huck being part of the team that helped Command near the end of season 4.
However, it has been confirmed by Rhimes that a new gladiator will be added to Pope and Associates. While no word has been given on who this character is going to be, rumors have been flying that the character of Marcus will be joining the gladiators.
Olivia's father Rowan "Eli" Pope was put into jail at the end of the last season for embezzlement charges. At the start of the season, viewers will see Eli still in jail. However, knowing the type of influence the character has, he might not be in there for very long.
Former holder of the Command position and Olivia's former love interest Jake will also be returning for season 5. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the show's creator Shonda Rhimes says that Jake is not happy with Olivia ultimately choosing Fitz. According to Rhimes, Jake is going to go on a journey that ultimately might destroy everything.
Season 5 of "Scandal" seeks to return to the formula that made it such a smash hit. With all these plot points in place for season 5, it looks like viewers are going to love what's in store.
