The final cast list for the TV series “Marvel’s Luke Cage” is already out. The new characters are expected to provide interesting takes in the coming episodes.
“Marvel’s Luke Cage” will be the third Marvel Studios series on Netflix. Luke Cage was created by Archie Goodwin and John Romita, Sr. Luke cage is one of the well-known street level heroes in the Marvel Universe. He has super strength and unbreakable skin, due to a failed experiment. He turned into a fugitive and is attempting to rebuild his life in Harlem, New York. Later, he discovered that he must fight for the city and face a past he wanted to forget, Coming Soon wrote.
Mike Colter was cast for the titular character. Fans, however, will first see Colter’s Cage in a supporting role on “Marvel’s Jessica Jones” on Netflix, which premieres on November 20, 2015.
Melissa Rosenberg, showrunner of “Jessica Jones”, shared her excitement over having Mike Colter play Luke Cage. She said that Mike had the strength, edge and depth of the main protagonist.
Frank Whaley will play the role of Rafael Scarfe. Showrunner CheoHodari Coker said that Whaley has the wiry intensity that makes him perfect for the role of the detective. He will make a great counterpart to Misty Knight. Scarfe will be providing valuable support to Cage and the rest of the “Heroes for Hire”.
Mahershala Ali will play Cornell Cottonmouth. Marvel TV Head Jeph Loeb said that Mahershala has extraordinary range and gravitas. He is expected to showcase his potential while playing Cottonmouth that Luke Cage would really be surprised. Cottonmouth is a pimp and drug lord who will soon become Cage’s enemy, Marvel.com reported.
Alfre Woodard will play Mariah Dillard. Loeb said that Alfre has an incredible and intimidating presence that will make her the right choice as a leader in Harlem. Dillard is Cottonmouth’s cousin and a local Harlem politician who tries to deliver a new era of change to the streets where she grew up on. In the comics, Dillard was the leader of the Rat Pack, a criminal gang.
Theo Rossi will play Shades, who has every tool for every challenge. Shades is a convicted felon and possesses a special visor that lets him shoot optic blasts, Coming Soon wrote.
Rosario Dawson will play Claire Temple. Dawson will reprise her role from “Marvel’s Daredevil” and is also set to appear on “Marvel’s Jessica Jones”.
“Marvel’s Luke Cage” will be available on Netflix some time in 2016.
