With the Dudley Boyz making a successful return so far in the WWE scene, could we see another legendary tag team connection follow suit?

Everyone knows the electrifying stunt the duo had during their prime in the WWE and while both have aged already and if they do have plans to return, it remains to be seen if both Jeff and Matt can still churn out the same daredevil moves they became famous for.

As a tag team, The Hardys first became tag team champions in 1999 when the defeated the Acolytes (Farooq and John Bradshaw Layfield). Among their most memorable feuds were against the Dudleys and the team of Christian and Edge at that time.

Both were popular for tables and ladder matches, something that closely associated them with the Dudleys. Both duos had their fair share of iconic matches and if ever they do return, expect that to be up in the air once more.

Jeff and Matt split up in 2003 as both ventured out into the WWE via singles competition. Both had some success in the WWE title scene but both simply failed to last. Jeff Hardy took his act to TNA Wrestling and became an instant hit. Matt had to deal with real-life issues with real-life partner Lita at that time and made several comeback returns which unfortunately didn’t pan out well.

If this rumor gains any ground, the WWE seems to be bent on bringing in former WWE names associated with its patented Attitude Era. Could the Hardys be the answer to the Dudleys?

Well, such could be the case if the roll continues. Right now, Bubba and D-Von seem to be teaching the modern day tag teams the WWE has to offer, including the reigning WWE Tag Team Champions the New Day.

However, one has to wonder how long the WWE would rely on the tactic considering that both the Dudleys and the Hardys aren’t exactly spring chickens. Their ages could play a factor (thinking injuries) so it may eventually end up seeing both tag teams spending more time in sick bay rather than performing each night out.

Just the same, tinkering with the idea of bringing in the good old names from the WWE Attitude Era should be nostalgic. Folks would certainly pay good money to see those classic TLC matches not to mention the old school moves that many remember to this day.

Right now, a Hardy Boyz return is considered a rumor but with the Dudleys’ success, such may not be far from happening especially if both Matt and Jeff are 100% healthy.
