Warner Bros is reportedly showing interest in casting Eva Green and Sean Bean to play the villains side by side Gal Gadot in the "Wonder Woman" standalone film. Rumors have also emerged of Cate Blanchett reportedly passed for a role in the film.
Sources familiar with the casting department told Heroic Hollywood that Bean is being eyed for the role of Ares, The God of War. Green, on the other hand, is being considered for the role of Circe, The Sorceress. The website further noted that Warner Bros may have considered Bean and Green seeing their respective performances in "Troy" and "Jupiter Ascending;" "Dark Shadows" and "300:Rise Of An Empire."
A separate article from Heroic Hollywood noted that casting rumors about "Wonder Woman" included the possibility of having Cate Blanchett on board as Hippolyta. However, this was immediately dismissed after Justin Kroll of Variety informed the website that Blanchett had actually "passed" for a role in the film.
There is also unconfirmed report swirling about the period to which "Wonder Woman's" story will take place. Umberto Gonzalez, Editor and Chief of Heroic Hollywood, is of information that the film's story will take place in two periods -- the first half during World War 1 and the second half during the modern day. This negates the previous rumor which came from Bleeding Cool stating that "Wonder Woman" will take place during World War II.
Meanwhile, Cinema Blend is reporting that "Wonder Woman" will be filmed in exotic location in Italy, the Basilicata. Production is reportedly setting up the location in the region's Lucania, of Southern Italy, Cinema Blend reported, citing Yahoo Italy.
Cinema Blend noted that Basilicata has all the making of a place closest to how Themyscira, Woder Woman's home island, might look like. The website further noted that the location has the remains of ancient Roman Columns which are all good for flashback and modern day scenes in "Wonder Woman."
While information about the film remains as unconfirmed reports and rumors as of this time, one thing is for sure -- Gadot is very much ready for the role. Speaking with Yahoo Beauty, she said that playing Wonder Woman is both "a lot of responsibility" and at the same time "huge opportunity" that makes her happy.
"I'm going to do my best in order to live up to Wonder Woman," Gadot told Yahoo Beauty. "Wonder Woman is a huge symbol of all the greatness of a woman. I'm very flattered and humbled. It's amazing," she said.
The film will begin its production in November in London as per Heroic Hollywood. It will be release on June 23, 2017.
