An angel literally fell on Friday, Sept. 11 - on the runway that is. Wearing a sexy laced dressed by Givenchy, Victoria's Secret's angel Candice Swanepoel tripped and fell down the stage as she makes her strut for the New York Fashion Week event.

The model, who is already veteran to the world of fashion shows, maintained her composure after the fall. A few gentlemen helped her get up. She managed a smile and went on to do the catwalk.

Later in the night, Swanepoel posted a photo of her bruised knees. In the photo, first reported by ET Online, the model thanked the men who picked her off the runway.

If the video of her fall was anything to go by, it seemed as if she was unperturbed of the incident. She was confident and did not seem to be embarrassed. However, according to her Instagram post, she was "Left with little scratches but mostly a bruised ego."

The incident must have been really a shocker to the South African model after all. According to Vogue, Swanepoel has an impressive number of endorsements to boot on top of being a Victoria's Secret's angel. She had been in the international runway modeling creations from Miu Miu, Oscar de la Renta and Versace. She had also been the cover of Vogue in Japan, Portugal, Brazil, Italy and Spain.

She was discovered in a flea market as a teenager and at the young age of 17, she was already modeling for Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger and Bottega Veneta. In 2007, she became one of Victoria's Secret's angels and in 2011 modeled for Chanel, Stella McCartney, Givenchy and Christian Dior.

In May, Swanepoel is one of Maxim's Top 100 list. She had also posed topless for Maxim's March Issue. In spite of these many achievements in the fashion world, Swanepoel admits to being shy behind the camera. "I look at myself in the third person, because that girl in the pictures isn't me: It's a girl I created to cope with the spotlight. I had to get over a lot of shyness to do this job," the model was quoted as saying by E! Online.

There must be something in the vibe during the NYFW event on Friday. According to a report from the Daily Mail, Swanepoel was not the only model who fell on the runway that night. A brunette model, Pooja Mor, had also tripped on the runway just within few seconds after Swanepoel; much worse because she stumbled down a set of steps on the stage. She fell at least three steps, knee first as seen in the video. The gentlemen from the audience stood and helped the model. As noted by the Daily Mail, the trips were caused by the open shoe laces on the models' footwear.
