Just recently, "Grand Theft Auto 5" released the newest addition to its GTA Online component called Freemode Events which will allow players to join various actions and events seamlessly without going into lobbies and menus -- all constant actions. However, amid this update, a Downloadable Content (DLC) story for older generation consoles has also become less likely to happen.
In a press release by "GTA 5" videogame publisher and developer Rockstar Games, it confirmed that an update of the Freemode events of the game will be coming this September 15, 2015 where events such as "King of the Castle," "Hunt the Beast," "Hunting Pack" and "Cross the Line" will be added.
"King of the Castle" is an "every man for himself" event which will require players to defend their "castle" or designated territory as others try to dethrone them. Meanwhile, "Hunt the Beast", as the name implies, will be a beast-hunting event where a group of pursuers will try to catch one volunteer character that will be momentarily transformed into a fast and strong monster.
On the other hand, through "Hunting Pack," players will be part of a team that will deliver a vehicle that will explode if it runs below a specific minimum speed. However, while being chased and rammed by opponents looking to destroy the vehicle.
"Cross the Line," meanwhile, is a strategy event where both heavily-armed teams needs to penetrate each other's territory, with the goal of making all members reach the enemy lines.
The new patch of Freemode events will also feature crazy events and challenges such as doing the "longest wheelie," "catching the most air in a land vehicle" and "performing the most near misses in a vehicle without crashing" as well updates on "audio ambient audio and sound effects library, Snapmatic integration, Director Mode"
This new update is definitely good news for gamers. Nonetheless, the Freemode Events update will only be available for current gen consoles like PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
"The Freemode Events Update is only for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. As we'd mentioned previously in our Asked & Answered series here at the Newswire . . . future content updates like this one would only be possible on the newer and more powerful systems," a Spokesperson from Rockstar says via Game Rant.
As pointed by the gaming news outlet, this move might affect users of older consoles who might be forced to upgrade to the latest console.
The site reported last month that there are rumors about a new story for the game that will feature zombies, horses, and a new character named Agent 14. However, Game Rant pointed that if there is really a new story coming out, there is a big chance that it, together with other future contents and stories, will be released with requirements of the specs of newer consoles, thereby making the old consoles like Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 totally obsolete for "GTA 5" gaming.
