Apple Maps continues to be a nuisance for some iOS 6 users, others have grown accustomed to it, but in the end it is the news of the Google Maps update that has everyone waiting.
When the new Apple operating system, iOS 6, made its debut, it was confirmed that a few things would be missing from its predecessors, noticeably YouTube and Google Maps. YouTube has already provided an update for iOS 6 users, so the eyes are now on Google Maps.
Apple was hoping for their new maps app - Apple Maps - to be a hit, but unfortunately it was met with heavy criticism.
The backlash from Apple fans has led to Apple CEO Tim Cook to issue an apology, stating, "At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better."
Latinos Post recommended alternatives until Google Maps distributed an iOS 6 update, from Bing, MapQuest, and Waze.
The wait could be over as the Wall Street Journal reported Google has distributed a test version of a new mapping system for Apple products.
A source told the newspaper, "Google has been putting the finishing touches on the app before submitting it for approval to the Apple iTunes store, this person said, though it's unclear exactly when that will happen."
Apple has not commented on the report, but a Google spokesperson said, "We believe Google Maps are the most comprehensive, accurate and easy-to-use maps in the world. Our goal is to make Google Maps available to everyone who wants to use it, regardless of device, browser, or operating system."
The Google spokesperson did not specifically refer to the upcoming Google Maps.
Could the Google Maps app be set in time for the upcoming holiday traveling season? Time will tell.
Latinos Post will be keeping tabs on the latest Google Maps updates.
