Earlier this week, Amazon Prime rolled out on the Wii U.
As the most recent app in a series of updates that were promised at launch, but delayed just days before Nintendo's new system hit store shelves, Prime is available to subscribers who opt for the $79/year service. On Amazon.com, consumers who pay the entry free are also granted free two-day shipping on any item shipped by the site.
PCWorld reports that the software offers 140,000 titles for rent or purchase, while 30,000 are free to subscribers.
Prime joins Netflix and Hulu Plus on the next-gen system, each of which can be viewed and controlled on the GamePad screen, independent of the TV.
However, early adopters will have to wait until mid-December to download Wii TVii, the entertainment hub which unifies each of the video content apps. Wii TVii was originally set to launch with the Wii U, but was pushed back so that Nintendo could fine tune the software before releasing it to the masses.
The Wii U is sold in two flavors: Basic and Deluxe. The Basic version is white and has 8GB of memory, a sensor bar, an adapter, and a HDMI cable. The black Deluxe release sports 32GB of memory, and comes bundled with Nintendo Land, a Gamepad charging cradle and stands for the console and controller.
