Fictional star-crossed lovers Kristen Stewart and Nicholas Hoult unite in Venice to promote their sci-fi drama, "Equals."
Hoult and Stewart, both 25 years old, joined 2011 Sundance Grand Jury Prize winner and "Equals" director Drake Doremus for a celebratory dinner at the Hotel Danieli in Venice, Italy, on Friday night, People reports.
Keeping it casual, the two co-stars both donned t-shirts and denim as they posed for group photos.
Hoult and Stewart were both rumored to be in a relationship in 2014, having been spotted on several dates. According to People, the co-stars had on-set chemistry and were "fastfriends" before the movie even began production in 2014.
"It's always a weird position to be put in any film where the director chooses two people and is saying, 'Hey, potentially in this world I'm creating you two could fall in love,'" Hoult told reporters at a press conference last year, as per People.
"Sometimes [this kind of situation] feels forced and tricky and awkward, but the kind of environment [director Drake Doremus] created was straightforward and easy. Kristen is a great actress, and that just makes it very relaxed and my job very easy," he noted.
"Equals" is set in a futuristic utopia with the inexistence of emotions, as premise. Nia (played by Stewart) and Silas (played by Hoult), "are two young lovers who suffer a syndrome that puts them in touch with their feelings," Variety narrates . As their emotions are outlawed, they sought to escape their community rather than be punished.
"It's immensely stylish, has a very distinctive voice to it," remarks Mister Smith Entertainment's David Garrett, as told by Variety.
People reports that the movie has 35 territory deals for distribution.
After Venice, the next stop for "Equals" is Toronto, Canada where it will screen as a Special Presentation.
