Stefan has recently expressed his joy about finally having Caroline all to himself for "Vampire Diaries" Season 7. Finally, he is not on the losing end of a love triangle ... or is he?
In a recent interview with the TV Guide, Paul Wesley, who plays Stefan, said it is good to finally have Caroline, "a girl who reciprocates." Stefan "felt like Elena was constantly torn between the two brothers," but now that he is finally moving forward with Caroline, "it's nice to be with a woman who's not torn about being with you," Wesley said; adding that Caroline is "all about him."
However, Candice Accola, who is playing Caroline, has just announced her pregnancy in the last week of August. The "Vampire Diaries" season 7 returns on Oct. 8, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
Accola's pregnancy announcement is expected to spiral the story into a completely new direction. If Accola's pregnancy is weaved into the story, the child cannot be Stefan's. As E! Online pointed out, only hybrid vampires can conceive after having sex with a werewolf.
E! Online thought it best to ask the cast themselves how Accola's pregnancy will be written into the plot of the "Vampire Diaries" season 7. Interestingly, all of them think Stefan and Caroline would be the best parents ever. No one thought that a third party could have gotten in the picture.
While Ian Somerhalder, who is playing Damon, got a little distracted, thinking that the pregnancy may actually be courtesy of Damon, he still thinks that Stefan "would be a good dad." As for the baby, "he'd grow up to be a sensitive, smart ripper," Somerhalder said.
Accola thinks so too. Caroline and Stefan would be "very quick parents," the actress said. "I think with vamp speed, that would definitely help with diaper changes. I don't know if they'd compel a baby not to cry? I don't know if that's cool for vampire parents to do," Accola added.
But as it turned out, this would-be good dad has a different plan. If Wesley has his way, then Stefan and Caroline will be sending the baby "to a private boarding school way far away so they never had to deal with him."
If Steroline did have their child together, Stefan would not actually be spared from a love triangle. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Caroline Dries said that the Salvatore family will form a "love triangle" in season 7.
"It's this love triangle, if you will, which we've created between Damon, Stefan and Lily," Dries said.
"Lily has naturally entered as the third point in the triangle, because her two biological sons love her, and care for her, in different ways," Dries continued. Her sons "hate her, they have mixed feelings towards her, they have resentment, they love her, because they used to love her and she raised them. They feel guilty because she died and they didn't know she was still alive."
