Google barely released Android 4.2, but you can bet that the Mountain View-based company is hard at work developing the next big Android iteration. Dubbed 'Key Lime Pie,' there isn't much known about what should be Android 5.0, but a new benchmark posted online suggests it might not be too far off and that Sony might be working on a Nexus smartphone with Google.

A new benchmark test on Nena shows a Sony device with the model number LT30i running Android 5.0.0. There is no way to tell whether this test is 100 percent accurate, so remember to take this piece of information with some skepticism. Other than that, what the benchmark test does reveal is something more interesting - a possible Sony Nexus phone.

Sony's flagship phone, the Xperia TL (the same smartphone featured in the new James Bond flick, Skyfall), sports the model number LT30p. Many reports online, however, do refer to the Xperia TL as LT30i. Either way, the device in the Nena benchmark test is probably either the Xperia TL or some variant of it.

The specs listed in the benchmark test show the LT30i to have a 720p 1280X720 display, a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8260 processor, and a Qualcomm Adreno 220 GPU. These specs are slightly different than the Xperia TL, but if the LT30i retains some similar aspects, it could be sporting a 13-megapixel camera like the Xperia TL.

Rumors earlier this year indicated that Sony might be partnering up with Google to develop a Nexus smartphone, and if the benchmark turns out to be accurate, this could be a good sign. Google usually releases a new version of Android alongside a new device. Android 4.1 Jelly Bean got the Nexus 7, while Android 4.2 recently launched through the LG Nexus 4 and Samsung Nexus 10.

Nexus-branded devices also get the latest versions of Android, while other smartphones and tablets have to wait months at at time to get their upgrade. A Sony device running a yet-unreleased version of Android could indicate that the LT30i will be a cutting edge Android Nexus device.

Could Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie release with a Sony Nexus smartphone? And if it did, does that have you excited?
