UPDATE - JULIA ORAYEN RESONDS TO THE MEDIA FRENZY IN A TELEVISED INTERVIEW

During Mexico's Presidential Candidates' debate, Julia Orayen caused another type of debate due to a provocative dress she was wearing.

The former Playboy Playmate was in charge of reaching a container to the presidential candidates who in return picked out ballots that determined the sequence in which they would speak.

At least one candidate, Gabriel Quadri, however, gave his undivided attention to Orayen who was passing by.

"It is impossible not to concentrate your attention on a woman so spectacular," he later told MVS radio according to the NYDaily News.

Orayen wore a cleavage-showing, white and tight dress that clearly outlined her curvy corporal figure.

For some, her attire may have not been much big of an issue but for others like female candidate Josefina Vazquez Mota Orayen's dress was "not in keeping with the seriousness of the debate," reported the International Business Times.

After the show, Marco Antonio Baños, electoral adviser, made a statement saying, "Here at the Federal Electoral Institute, we are very ashamed for the incident involving Julia 's attire. We publicly recognize that we made a mistake in not having inspected this."

Baños later said that the company hired to take care of the program and production was in charge of choosing the attire the model wore.

The NYDaily News reported that Orayen was told to pick a long white dress and that she picked it up from her own closet.

""It was my only choice for a long dress. I didn't think it would reveal as much or cause this much scandal," she said.

Mexico's presidential elections fall on July 1, 2012 and according to polls, Enrique Peña Nieto from the PRI party has a significant lead over the other candidates.
