August 30, 215 is looking to be a big night for many musical artists the VMAs.

This Sunday, MTV will present its annual Video Music Awards, hosted by Miley Cyrus. Kanye West is looking to have one of his biggest nights yet. The innovative rapper and producer will receive the Video Vanguard Award joining the ranks of Michael and Janet Jackson, David Bowie, Madonna, and most recently, Beyonce.

MTV announced Tuesday via their twitter ".‪@KanyeWest will receive the Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 ‪#VMAs this Sunday at 9/8c!"

The big announcement was accompanied with a 30-second tribute video.

At this time Kanye has not confirmed performing at the VMAs, however past recipients usually put on a tribute before accepting the iconic Moonman. Last year, Queen Bey performed a number of her songs before her hubby, Jay-Z and daughter, Blue-Ivy, joined her onstage to receive the esteemed honor.

This is a super feat for Yeezy who has been nominated for MTV's Video of the Year three times.

MTV gushed, that the "All Day" rapper is most deserving of this honor, "after years of releasing groundbreaking music and accompanying videos that have always pushed the envelope. From "Through the Wire," to "Runaway" and "Bound 2," his creative depths have never ceased to amaze us, and some could argue that his videos are complete masterpieces in their own right."

Yeezy isn't alone in reaching an iconic moment. Bey may trump Madonna in receiving the most Moonmen in history. Madonna currently holds 20. Queen Bey, 17, if you include her awards with Destiny's Child. She is currently nominated for five this year. If she receives just four of her VMA noms, she will break Madonna's record, set in 1999.

Yup, 16 years ago. It is going to be an eventful night, right?

Viewers can also expect performances from Pharrell, Demi Lovato, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Tori Kelly, A$AP Rocky and Twenty One Pilots. The Weeknd is set to perform his summer smash "Can't Feel My Face" while Taylor Swift will premiere her "Wildest Dreams" music video prior to the awards ceremony. The awards show will air on MTV, Sunday Aug. 30 at 9/8C.
