Fans of the "Evil Dead" series now have their long-awaited follow up for the franchise.
In an online trailer, the title character of Ash played by Bruce Campbell is up to his gun-slinging, chainsaw-wielding, zombie-killing antics. It seems that Ash is older and a little bit wiser.
According to Screen Rant, much of the show will center around Ash and his new traveling companion Pablo, who will be played by Ray Santiago. The trailer showed that the banter between the two characters will be mostly lighthearted and funny while trying to save the world once again from the pending apocalypse.
Lucy Lawless is also featured in the trailer, and according to Deadline, Lawless will be the straight man opposite the sarcastic Campbell. Lawless' character, Ruby, is looking for the cause of the plague, and believes that Ash is the main catalyst of everything that is happening.
The special effects of the Deadites have been revealed as well, and it seems that Raimi has done quite a good job considering that he is now on a TV budget. While it is known that the channel the show is to debut on, Starz, has done very good work in previous shows, it remains to be seen whether the tight budget for TV instead of movies will take away any of the magic that the movies had.
The first season of "Ash vs. Evil Dead" will also see the return of "Evil Dead" originals producers Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert. Craig DiGregio will also return and serve as the show's executive producer and showrunner.
"Ash vs. Evil Dead" will take place 30 years after the events of the last "Evil Dead" movie. Ash will finally have to face his destiny as the Deadite plague threatens to consume the Earth. All of Ash's demons, personal and literal, will be coming to light as the character will be dealing with the issues that he has been avoiding all these years.
The first episode is expected to be explosive as Raimi is set to direct the episode that he wrote for the show, along with Ivan Raimi and Tom Spezialy.
"Ash vs. Evil Dead" is set to debut on the Starz Network this Halloween. The series has been confirmed for a 10-episode season with half-hour show times. Do you believe that there is still some magic left with Ash and his party? Let us know below.
