The sixth season of "The Walking Dead" series will hit television sets in October. AMC's hit zombie television show is highly anticipated by fans, and as such, avid followers are eager to know if there will be a "happy" ending for Rick and the rest of the surviving core group.
According to Screen Rant, "The Walking Dead" series is not a place for happiness. Much like the "Game of Thrones" series and in real life, death will come to people --- most of the time, in the most unexpected moments.
It is a known fact that most unforgettable points in the series are also the most distressing. Some characters whom the fans learned to love or hate had their lives ended, some in an untimely manner. One's life is never truly safe when one is trying to survive in a world filled with mindless, flesh-eating zombies.
During the five previous seasons of "The Walking Dead," fans have come to accept the fact that everyone can, and will die, eventually. Everyone, except maybe Daryl, who now has a specific group of fans that said they will boycott the show if he dies.
With the characters' lives as the topic, the show has deviated from the comic book created by Robert Kirkman, continued Screen Rant's report. There are some characters who died earlier in the comic book but are still alive in the show, and vice versa. There are even some characters that were only introduced in the television series. Daryl is the best example of a non-comic book character, which must be the reason as to why he has dodged the reaper for so long. Or maybe it's because he's a fan favorite.
Truth be told, all good things must come to an end. The same goes for "The Walking Dead" series. Much to the fans' dismay, Kirkman has already planned an ending.
"I do know what I'm building toward... I don't know exactly what issue that's going to fall on, per se, and I do have a lot of road laid out before that that is going to take a long time, but I certainly know exactly what I'm building to... About a year or two ago, I finally nailed down exactly what I want the ending to be. So now, I've kind of got two trails of story going in my head. One working to where I'm at very far into the future, and one working from the end backwards. When those two stories meet, then I'll know exactly how long the story is. I'm rapidly approaching that point," Kirkman said.
So, what will be the fate of Rick and the rest of the surviving core members? During Kirkman's podcast interview, the creator has revealed bits and pieces of information about the outcome of the gang, indicating a possibility of a happy ending, according to wtfpod.
"People talk about how 'The Walking Dead' is very bleak, and if you take a certain cross-section of the story, yeah, it's horrible," Kirlman said. "People getting their loved ones eaten and having a horrible time. But I see the story from beginning to end, over many, many years, so I think it's a very hopeful story about humanity overcoming this insurmountable, apocalyptic situation ... it's just gonna take them a long time to do it. I do hope that 'The Walking Dead' goes on long enough that when it ends, it's like, 'Good thing we took care of those zombies.'"
In any case, when one show ends, another begins. "The Walking Dead" season six will air on Oct. 11, 2015. "Fear the Walking Dead", the prequel to the hit series, will air on August 23, 2015. Catch these shows on AMC.
