Superman's solo film is scheduled to return in 2020 but fans might have a new reason to get excited with new rumors that "Mad Max: Fury Road" Director George Miller will be taking the helm for the film reboot started by from Zack Synder's.
As reported by DC Movie News, Miller will be doing the "Man of Steel 2" as Synder is already committed with the 'Justice League' franchise.
"George Miller, he's doing Man of Steel 2......Obviously Zack Snyder is doing Justice League 1 and 2, we already got James Wan doing Aquaman - Waterman I think they should change the title- but yeah I think George Miller is a perfect choice to do Man of Steel 2, he's going to bring so much to it," guest star John Schnepp told DC Movie News.
According to Screen Rant, Miller can bring a lot for the "Man of Steel 2" film especially with his recent success in 'Mad Max: Fury Road. The report cited that the with kind of imaginative director Miller is, he could bring out to the movie its visual potential and maximize the power of the characters' image depicted in the film instead of relying on "realism" which Synder showed in the first "Man of Steel."
The report also noted that through directing the "Mad Max" series, Miller has shown a strong and refined sense on how to tell story, "conveying both action, character and deep emotion all through visual iconography alone" which makes him a good choice for the film that aims to portray noble, god-like hero's value and power.
Screen Rant highlighted that Miller is a solid choice with his resume as fellow hit maker directors like Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman), Ben Affleck (Batman solo film), Synder (Justice League 1 and 2) and James Wan (Aquaman), attached to their own films already.
Currently, there is no clear plan regarding a sequel for Miller-directed 'Mad Max' franchise but with Warner Bros. leading the development, there is a very big possibility for Miller to take on the challenge for the new Superman movie, Screen Rant added.
The DC Extended Universe will soon start to unfold with the release of 'Batman V Superman' and 'Suicide Squad' in 2016 followed by movie-versions of Justice League heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Flash.
"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will open on March 25, 2016; "Suicide Squad" on August 5, 2016; "Wonder Woman" on June 23, 2017; "Justice League" on November 17, 2017; "The Flash" on March 23, 2018; "Aquaman" on July 27, 2018; "Shazam" on April 5, 2019; "Justice League 2" on June 14, 2019; "Cyborg" on April 3, 2020; and "Green Lantern Corps" on June 19, 2020.
