"Scandal" wrapped up their Season 4 and left their viewers by the edge of their seats.

Fans are saying that political thriller TV series ended in a classic "Shondaland" style. The last episode of Season 4 was filled with lots of blood, secret and action. The finale gave the fans exactly what they wanted, Inquisitr reported. The last scene showed Olivia Pope, played by Kerry Washington, standing on the Truman balcony. With a glass of wine on her hand, there she waits for President Grant's arrival which is played by Tony Goldwyn.

With the first sight of his freedom from his marriage, Fitz went to Olivia's condo. He desperately knocked and waited for an answer but there was none. He returned back home to the White House and while frustrated and alone, he stepped outside the balcony which overlooked the south lawn. Olivia then emerged and both share their long-awaited moment of passion and freedom.

With the end of Season 4 comes the spoilers of what's yet to come for the next chapter. Most fans ask, will Olivia and Grant finally get their chance at being happy? Or will Mellie Grant fight to win back her ex-husband?

TVLine reported that the next season will start out in a "world of hurt" for Mellie. Bellamy Young, the actress playing Mellie Grant said that crippled characters will be seen struggling to be back on their feet for the next season. This does not spare her character.

"That season finale pulled the rug out from under everyone, so I think everybody was pretty happy that we were starting back immediately after and getting to go into those moments," said Young.

With regard the cast for the next season, it looks like Shonda Rimes is pretty happy with how the promotion is being handled. It was also reported that Portia de Rossi will be upgraded from special guest to a series regular. Marcus Walker who was played by Cornelius Smith Jr. will also be returning for the fifth season.

Meanwhile Kerry Washington voiced out how she feels when people brand her character Olivia Pope as a role model. The actress said that people are misguided if they are looking up to her.

"I've always thought it was misguided when people tell me that Olivia is their role model," Kerry said. "Because she's having an affair with a married man, who is the President of the United States. And (he's) a murderer."

"Scandal" will be back for its fifth season on September 24 at 9.pm.
