It has been two years since the reboot of the fighting video game "Killer Instinct" was launched, and it has been continuously thrilling fans with its Downloadable Content (DLC) approach for every season. Now, fans can get more excited with the announcement that Season 3 will be coming and will be highlighted with the return of a veteran character.
In an announcement made in a "Killer Instinct" forum by community manager Rukari Austin, it was confirmed that the veteran character Kim Wu, which was last seen in Nintendo 64 "Killer Instinct Gold" way back in 1996, will be joining the fight as part of the game's Season 3 DLC content.
Moreover, as reported by Game Rant, Rukari explained in his post that the developers are seeking for fan suggestions and input on how to handle Kim Wu.
"If we were to do Season 3 of Killer Instinct, we would definitely have Kim Wu return. Well guess what, we're doing Season 3. Tell us your thoughts about Kim Wu," Rikaru posted in the forum.
Game Rant added that there is no specific time when Kim Wu will arrive in Season 3 of "Killer Instinct" which was announced to be released in 2016. Moreover, joining Wu in the game is Rash of Battleroads, which is seen as a sign that Microsoft Studios, the game's publisher, is looking to add more guest characters in Season 3 instead of new versions of classic "Killer Instinct" fighters.
This move is a way to allure players to join the "Killer Instinct" battle and potentially boost the game's audience and market especially with the game planned to be made available in PC with cross-platform play for PC and Xbox One, Game Rant furthered.
The game was one of the most beloved fighting video game of all time since its arcade launch in 1994 with sequels following two years after. The game, however, was later criticized for its lack of content and has been in a long hiatus. Previously developed by Rare before Double Helix Games and Microsoft Studios take over for the 2013 reboot, the game has seen tremendous growth with the use of the DLC seasons. Game Rant cited that this support for the game is preferable for players as it ensures that fans of the game consistently have new content to explore and new fighters to master.
"Killer Instinct" is currently available for Xbox One while a Windows 10 version of the game is coming soon. Season 3 is scheduled for release in March 2016.
