Fans of the hit conspiracy show, "The X-Files," have been waiting in anticipation for the show's revival next year on Fox. So far, there have been several changes, confirmed cameos and rumored stories for the new six-episode return of the show.

What has been confirmed is that there will be several new agents joining the core team of Agent Mulder and Agent Scully. According to Screen Rant, Robby Amell, well known as Ronny Raymond on "The Flash," and Lauren Ambrose, who played Claire Fisher on "Six Feet Under," will be playing the smooth Agent Miller and the confident Agent Einstein, respectfully. Joel McHale and Kumail Nanjiani have also been confirmed to appear as new characters.

Several other characters have been confirmed to return to the series as well. One of the biggest announcements, as confirmed by TV Line, is that Margret Scully, the mother of Agent Scully, will be returning to the series. Margret will return to the series in the second episode of the season, titled "Home Again." Other characters confirmed to return are Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi), Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) and the Lone Gunmen.

However, the biggest rumor going around the Internet is about what happened with the relationship between Mulder and Scully. Unfortunately for the fans of the show, it seems that the pair have split in the time between the end of the show and the start of the revival.

Entertainment Weekly reports that a leaked clip of the show indeed reveals that Mulder and Scully have broken up. Some critics believe that breaking the two agents up will create a better source of dramatic tension compared with the time the two actually became an item.

In the leaked footage, Mulder is trying to convince Scully about a certain conspiracy. During the conversation, it seems that there is still some feelings between the two agents but Scully is purposely holding hers back. The reasons behind the breakup haven't been made known yet, but these are expected to be disclosed in time.

Will the changes made to the "X-Files" please the loyal fans of the show? Only time will tell. "The X-Files" is currently filming in Vancouver and will return to Fox on Sunday Jan. 24, 2016.
