The long wait of 'American Horror Story' fans will soon be over as the fifth season of the horror series, "American Horror Story: Hotel," will open its doors on October 7, Entertainment Weekly has learned.
During the Television Critics' Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Ryan Murphy, the show's co-creator, showrunner and director, described Gaga's role as a very wealthy hotel owner "who is consumed with art and fashion and people," per Mail Online.
Murphy further teased the press, saying that the pop star "has a nefarious plan that is revealed in the first episode that plays out the course of the season."
USA Today reports that according to Murphy, the set will be connected to the first season as it will also take place in Los Angeles. Brad Falchuk, co-creator of the show, further notes that the two seasons and the "Asylum" series are interconnected as each of them shares the theme of "being trapped."
During the press tour, Entertainment Weekly revealed that each of the cast members, except Gaga, who was not present in the panel, described their characters for the upcoming season.
Unlike her roles in the past season, Sarah Paulson says that her character, Sally, is a "sexy drug addict" who has a dark side. Another sexy character, Angela Bassett plays Ramona Royale, a fabulous actress, who will have a "very strong real lasting" relationship with Lady Gaga's character.
Katy Bates is Iris, who is in charge of running the hotel and is in conflict with Paulson's character. She will have relationships with Donovan (Matt Bomer) and Wes Bentley (Detective John Lowell).
Chloë Sevigny plays the wife of Bentley (Detective John Lowell). She's a mother and doctor who is dealing and trying to come to terms with a "great loss" they had in their family.
According to Matt Bomer, his character, Donovan, will be "closely associated with Ms. Gaga and Ms. Bates, and Mr. Wittrock, amongst others."
Finn Wittrock will take on the role of Tristan Duffy, a male model "who’s always looking for the next high" and sees the "biggest high" in Lady Gaga's character while Cheyenne Jackson is Will Drake, a fashion icon who moved to Los Angeles from New York to reestablish himself.
Denis O'Hare is playing movie icon, Liz Taylor. The actress adds that she has shaved her head and other body parts for the role. Wes Bentley is Detective John Lowell, who will be the one snooping around the hotel to investigate the murders.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" will feature 13 episodes of pure horror and grisly killings.
