Another match has been made official for WWE SummerSlam set to take place on August 23, 2015.
WWE.com reports that another SummerSlam card will pit Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose against the tandem of Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper.
Though word of this match is nothing new, especially if you have been following the rumors as of late, the question now is on whether Sting (Steve Borden) will be around or not.
According to Wrestling Inc. the original plan was a six-man tag match that included the Stinger but it seems that the former WCW legend has been pulled out of the match. Many believe he could make a surprise appearance like what the Undertaker did at WWE Battleground but latest reports reveal that Sting has been limited to the meet-and-greet sessions of SummerSlam.
The tag match seems pretty interesting to follow. Reigns and Wyatt have been going at it since WWE Battleground so the addition of Ambrose and Harper is something new.
Could we be seeing a betrayal of sorts? Well word about this is nothing new, something that has been speculated in past partnerships between Reigns and Ambrose.
But the obvious wrestler who needs the push here is Reigns. Though he has improved by leaps and bounds, it remains that Reigns has not yet gotten the 100 percent support of the WWE Universe.
This dates back to the WWE Rumble when the WWE fans turned on Reigns who was being primed as the next face of the WWE. The WWE had to step in and do damage control until Wrestlemania 32 where Reigns would lock horns with Brock Lesnar.
Of course everyone knows that Seth Rollins sneaked in to steal the title away from Lesnar and Reigns. Since then, Reigns has been in and out of the title picture until the WWE settled to have him feud with Wyatt.
Their feud was expected to last this long and was something done to help Reigns sharpen his skills, particularly behind the microphone.
Heading into WWE SummerSlam, there are a lot of speculations on what could turn out. Reigns could turn heel and betray Ambrose. Again, it could be done with a miscalculated maneuver unless Wyatt casts some power that would see Reigns turn into a heel wrestler.
Assuming that does happen, Reigns could end up ending his storyline feud with Wyatt and turn his focus on Ambrose. Hence, expect Reigns to be out of the WWE picture once more.
Then again, it could be a plain tag match between the two tandems and nothing more.
For now, it remains to be seen what the WWE plans for Reigns and Ambrose, one of the WWE’s current fan-favorites. Of course Ambrose could turn on Reigns as well though it doesn’t seem likely he would align with the Wyatts.
WWE SummerSlam happens on August 23, 2015 at the Barclays Center in New York in a couple of weeks so stay tuned!
