Mariah Carey, who is known throughout the world as one of the reining divas of music, finally received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Aug. 6. Lee Daniels was on hand to congratulate her latest accolade and announced that the Billboard Queen will be guest starring on season 2 of Fox's hit series, "Empire."

The "Empire" character, Cookie, has become a beloved role for her diva attitude and 'like a boss' demeanor for running her music company, as well as being a beautiful, sassy woman who won't let anyone stand in her way.

Now with the confirmation of Carey signing on to the show as a guest star, art will definitely be imitating life, since there is no doubt she is the perfect person to give Cookie some pointers.

Entertainment Tonight reported "Empire" creator Daniels dotingly praised the pop legend for being a "queen" and complimented her talents at the ceremony, prior to making the announcement.

"She is the queen. She is the one. Her heart transcends her stardom," he gushed. "I stopped everything I was doing to make sure I was here for you, because you always were there for me before I was 'Lee Daniels.' I'm so proud of you."

"Watch her on 'Empire,' you guys," he continued. "She's coming on 'Empire.'"

The "We Belong Together" hitmaker has been churning out hits in the music business for over 20 years, so it came as a shock to many that she has not already received her star on the Walk of Fame. Daniels admitted it has been long overdue.

"I thought you already had a star on the Walk of Fame," he said. "You deserved one a long time ago."

Daniels did not disclose what role Carey will be playing on "Empire" yet. However, he discussed how confident he was in her acting abilities.

"She has certainly proven herself, good lord. Repeatedly," he told the press at the ceremony, via Variety.

This won't be the first time the duo will be working together -- the award-winning director cast the pop star in his other films including, "Precious" and "The Butler," placing her in roles that have showcased her range of acting abilities.

As if fans were not already excited for the return of "Empire," there is even more anticipation to see Carey flexing her acting chops once again.
