Atlus Co. Ltd. disappointed many fans when the company did not show up at the last E3 2015 with the long awaited "Persona 5" game. With still no release date and their absence during the fair, gamers are lead to believe that Atlus may reveal the video game at the D23 Expo in Japan scheduled from Aug. 14 to Aug. 16.

According to Crossmap, "Persona 5" will stay loyal to its roots when it comes to gameplay style. Based on the gameplay trailer released back in February, the report stated that this instalment would be more artistic and classier than its predecessors in which players control the main character and then transported to randomly generated dungeons. Adding more familiar features, the main character and his allies will use their persona, which is the inner self in physical form harnessed to gain powers.

Recent reports dictate that even more similarities to previous instalments will be seen in the game. "Persona 5" will have a main character described as a high school student who recently transferred to Shujin High School in Tokyo. During the day, he is a nonchalant and normal high school boy.

At night, he goes by the name "The Phantom." Claimed to have a striking resemblance to Arsene Lupin, he wears a bird-looking mask and wields knives and pistols as weapons. The main character is joined by his two classmates: Ryuji Sakamoto, who dons a skull mask and uses shotguns, and Anne Takamaki, who wears a cat mask and uses whips and machine guns.

The report further revealed that unlike previous instalments, "Persona 5" will have a darker feel and deeper personality. Gamers are expected to tackle an increased in difficulty when it comes to puzzles.

Yu Namba, senior manager of Atlus, was recently interviewed by Siliconera. Namba said, "I can't speak for the game's reception in Japan since I don't have a direct line of feedback to that audience. However, looking past the story of Persona 4, Kanji's choice of words, actions, and you know, him leaning toward the player's direction - they focus on character development." He added, "Let's say in Persona Q, you know Teddie jokes about Kanji a whole lot, but at the same time, Kanji related to Ken from Persona 3, showing a big brother side of him." Namba went on to say, "It's not just making fun of him in that regard, there's more there that makes the character deeper. I think that that's a great thing that the development team at Atlus has done with the existing characters."

With the games' release date still unknown, gamers and fans turn to rumors. One particular leak is an advertisement in a video game magazine which claimed that "Persona 5" will be released on 2016, according to Video Gamer. The said advert came from Sony's latest issue of Edge Magazine which showed a launch calendar for few PS4 video game titles.

Keep posted for more details about "Persona 5." The D23 Expo will be held on Aug. 14 - 16, 2015 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.
