When the country music superstar couple announced their divorce last month, many were dismayed and surprised. In the wake of the split, a number of reports have emerged regarding the reason the couple went their separate ways.
Initially, rumor has it that Miranda Lambert had cheated on Blake Shelton with a younger country musician. Recently, the tables appeared to have been turned. It's now "The Voice" judge who's in the cheating hot seat right now after certain entertainment media outlets reported of a revelation singer Cady Groves made to In Touch Magazine.
"Their marriage was over a long time ago," Groves told the publication, according to RadarOnline. "If people knew what really happened, the world would explode."
The two reportedly embarked on an affair in August 2011, just 3 months after Shelton married Lambert. It began sometime after he appeared in a cameo on Groves' music video.
A friend reportedly told In Touch that the two did get intimate and saw each other for at least a year. However, Shelton "broke her heart" and split from the up-and-coming singer. The 25-year-old's brother also revealed that Groves lost her record deal in the ensuing heartbreak. "She lost an album she spent years on," he was quoted as saying.
Groves, however, would not accept the accusations saying she caused the superstar couple's divorce.
Those who have followed Groves' social media activity would have known about Groves' mysterious tweets about unrequited love, which were posted just 2 days after the divorce was finalized.
"It's sick that I experienced a once in a lifetimes love-still as strong as the day it happened- & have been punished every single day since," her first tweet on the matter, posted on July 22, said, as noted by Hollywood Life. "And that's all you need to know. I never quit loving you-you just ran. Isn't that what they teach you love is? One loves the other more and therefor holds the power to virtually murder the other. After all these years- it's you. Always was: always will be."
Was she talking about that failed romance with Shelton?
In addition, it can be recalled that, in interviews she gave in 2012 in anticipation of her album launch, she mentioned getting into a relationship with a 35-year-old producer she worked with back when she was still making her album around 2011. Considering Shelton is 39 now, it appears that the age description would fit the bill.
She also went on to say that the romance fizzled when she learned he was married. It can also be recalled that Shelton married Lambert in 2011. Was she talking about her alleged relationship with the country singer in interviews long before the cheating rumors emerged?
Shelton was apparently not content to let these allegations run wild. He has since threatened In Touch with legal action for spreading the cheating rumors.
"Shelton's attorneys describe Groves as someone who became 'infatuated' with Shelton. The letter accuses the magazine of using Groves as its source, and any insinuation by her that she had an affair with Blake is a lie," TMZ said.
"Mr. Shelton did not have a sexual relationship or affair of any nature whatsoever with Ms. Groves," a statement from the letter reportedly emphasized.
It can also be noticed that media outlets carrying the story about Groves confession has shut down the page reporting the cheating allegations. However, In Touch is said to be confident about its position, even going further to say that it has another "exclusive" about the country music stars.
