Caitlyn Jenner previously revealed she's not confident about her rather masculine voice. As such, news of her planning to get vocal surgery should not be surprising, especially if efforts to train herself to speak in a feminine tone are not producing the desired results.
Previously, she shared her anxiety over her "voice issue" to those close to her, including stepdaughter Kim Kardashian.
"One thing that's always a challenge for everybody is your voice. That can out shoot any time. You look great, you look fabulous, then you open up your voice and everybody goes 'Oh my God,'" Cait was told, as noted by MailOnline.
After coaching the former Olympian in producing a more feminine voice - and failing - Cait said there's another option.
"There are things that you can do to change that. Surgery," she said.
"What if they made a mistake and you came out with no voice?" Kim countered.
Looks like Cait needs to mull over the invasive option more carefully.
In other scenes in the docu-series "I Am Cait," the transgender celebrity had emphasized her insecurity over her voice.
"You know what concerns me and is probably going to drive me nuts? It's my voice," People quoted her as saying. "I really haven't disguised my voice that much."
Cait had even touched on her vocal issues in the aftermath of her ESPYs speech.
"While I felt like I looked great and that the gown looked fabulous, I still have a voice issue," she wrote in her blog. "It's not quite right compared to my feminine appearance. That bothers me a little bit. However, I hope that people don't listen to the pitch of my voice, but listen to what I have to say. That's important to me."
The vocal feminization is not the only thing she is compelled to deal with, though. She has also encountered a few other difficulties in her transition, such as being comfortable enough to wear a bathing suit. She had declared that the time will eventually come when she will be able to take a dip in a pool in a bathing suit, although she's "in no rush" to do just that, according to E! News.
"This process of coming out, doesn't happen overnight," Cait pointed out. "There are so many hurdles to overcome. Every day it seems like, 'What about a bathing suit?' See, I can't even say it. It's hard for it just to come out saying 'a bathing suit.' But that's where I got to get and it's going to take time."
