New details regarding Manny Pacquiao's next fight and when it could potentially happen have been unveiled.
Good news for Pacquiao fans as not only has his injured shoulder been healing fast, it seems that the Filipino boxer could also be ready to fight soon.
According to Dino Maragay of The Philippine Star, Top Rank CEO Bob Arum admitted that he was surprised to see how well Pacquiao's shoulder has been doing and notes that the Filipino's therapists believe that the boxer could fight again this year.
"He sent us a video and the therapists are stunned at his progress. They said he could be back at the end of this year," Arum noted.
The Philippines Star notes that Pacquiao was originally slated to sit out the rest of the year to let his injuries heal completely. However, the boxer's adviser, Michael Koncz, believes that despite being given the go ahead by his therapists, the Filipino fighter should fight in 2016, not 2015.
As was reported by Opening Round, Koncz admitted that Pacquiao has been healing fast but he notes that the latter would be ready to fight by late February or March.
"It'll be next year, late-February or March," said Koncz.
In a different report by Opening Round, Pacquiao stated that even in the early part of rehabilitation, he can now move his injured arm without any pain.
"I am doing good and I can now move my arm without feeling any pain," Pacquiao said.
The Filipino boxer has also been keeping fit as he notes that he can still make weight should a fight for him be scheduled soon.
"Getting overweight is not concern. I've always kept my weight in check," Pacquiao notes.
However, who would be Pacquiao's opponent in his next fight?
Arum admitted that he wants to see Pacquiao against the undefeated American boxer, Terrence Crawford, in his next fight.
"That (Pacquiao-Crawford bout) would be a tremendous, tremendous fight," Arum said.
Arum also noted that a fight with Amir Khan in Dubai has been in the works but nothing has been completely set so far.
Opening Round reports that a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, Jr could be possible in the future at the brand new MGM venue in Las Vegas in April 2016.
