Twilight fans are known to be extremely loyal to their beloved franchise. Some have proven their adoration of the franchise by camping out in the week leading up to the film's release.
According to the Los Angeles Times, over the weekend hundreds of fans slept outside in tents awaiting the Monday night LA premiere of the Breaking Dawn- Part 2, the final installment in the long running Twilight series. The series has racked up over $2.5 billion in global ticket sales and has over 80 million fans on Facebook (most of them females).
The franchise's finale was clouded earlier in the year when starlet Kristen Stewart was shunned by media for an affair she had with director Rupert Sanders. While that is over and Stewart and boyfriend Robert Pattinson are back together, co-star Ashley Greene stated in an interview with Seventeen that she hoped the drama would not harm fans' ability to enjoy the film.
The film has its official theatrical premiere on Friday November 16 and is expected to win the weekend box office easily. It's closest competition may be the latest James Bond flick Skyfall which grossed $88 million over this past weekend. Considering that the last film in the Twilight series obtained $71 million in just one day, it is safe to say that Twilight should win the weekend easily.
