The upcoming James Bond movie, titled "Spectre 007," was rumored to feature Sony's new flagship mobile device, the Xperia Z5. With Sony's hold on both the movie industry and their mobile phone division, the company aims to take full advantage and market their new flagship mobile device alongside a movie title.
The leaked photos was first revealed on Digi-Wo which said that the smartphone would be the agent's new "Bond Machine." The alleged photo had a letter blurred out right next to the word Xperia, before the number 5, and under the slogan, "Made For Bond."
Without any official word from Sony to confirm or deny the leaked photos, rumors rapidly spread all over the Internet.
It would be logical for Sony to utilize its connection with the movie's distributor, Columbia Pictures, and incorporate the new flagship devices. This move, however, did not come for free. International Business Times reported that some sensitive information were divulged to the public after Sony pictures was hacked late in 2014. Among these sensitive data were emails that have been published online. One of which mentioned Sony paying Colombia Pictures $5 million just to have James Bond hold a Sony mobile device.
Another leaked email, still reported by International Business Times, came from Andrew Gumpert. The president of worldwide business affairs (Grumpet) at Columbia said in the email that there is a creative factor involved other than the money itself. He further added that both director Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig did not like the Sony mobile device. James Bond deserves only the "best" gadgets out there and both men added that the Sony mobile phone does not make the cut.
Further information from GSM Arena revealed that Sony's Xperia Z5 will be unveiled in Japan by September. The smartphone was said to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 802 SoC with 4 GB RAM. The device is expected to carry a powerful 4500mAh battery for longer running time. For the camera, it's said that the device sports a 21 megapixel Sony Exmor RS IMX230 CMOS sensor, with 4k recording and high-definition resolution capabilities. Outside the Xperia Z5, it's also rumored that Sony is planning to release the flagship's other variant; namely the Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Ultra.
Do put into consideration that all the mentioned information are all but rumors and unconfirmed hearsays. Take it with a grain of salt and keep posted for updates.
