Getting a whiff of a new Samsung Galaxy these days? At the rate rumors are going, it looks like the release of a Galaxy S7 is indeed imminent, but not as soon as you think.

According to recent buzz, the release of Samsung's upcoming flagship smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy S7, "will probably be launched during next year's Mobile World Congress which will be held from Feb. 22 to 25 at Barcelona, Spain," according to the speculation of Ecumenical News. That is if the South Korean tech giant still follows its usual product release timeline.

Reports also say that the upcoming handset will have a similar design as the S6, thanks to the acclaim the current model has reaped with its sleek and classy glass and metal look.

"There are also rumors that the company is testing high resolution 4K displays for the Galaxy Note 5 so it is highly probable that the Galaxy S7 will also be utilizing these new ultra high resolution displays," the site added.

"The Samsung Galaxy S7 will reportedly include a huge 4GB of RAM and options of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage," Tech Times also said. "There are multiple different rumors concerning the S7's camera, with the most speculative suggested that it will be a huge 30MP. The more realistic, however, suggest that we will see a 16MP shooter with OIS."

Further, it's been reported that the S7 may be equipped with e-SIM cards as Samsung, along with Apple, have reportedly engaged in "advanced talks to join the rest of the telecoms industry to launch electronic Sim cards," according to FT.

"The traditional Sim card locks in the user to a network but an embedded Sim would enable a smartphone, tablet or wearable user to avoid locking themselves into a plan with a single operator or sign up to switch instantly," the news source explained.

However, as negotiations and technical tinkerings are still ongoing, it may take no less than a year before e-Sim gadgets can emerge in the mobile market.

With that, it appears a February 2016 unveiling for an e-Sim enabled Galaxy S7 may seem to be not feasible. Could the successor to S6 be released at a delayed date then? Or will it not feature the new innovation yet?

Meanwhile, Trusted Reviews pegged the S7's release as April 8 or 15 next year.

"Whatever the case, you can be sure the Galaxy S7 launch won't fall outside of Q2 2016, and it will almost definitely come later than Mobile World Congress 2016," the site speculated.
