Angry Birds is more than just a game, it's a cultural phenomenon.

It's no surprise, then, that developer Rovio has teamed up with LucasFilm and built a game themed around the most influential science fiction adventure of our generation, Star Wars. Both properties are merchandising powerhouses, and together they can rule the kids' department of Toys R' Us as father and son. Let's take a look at what the critics had to say about the latest installment of the Angry Birds franchise.

IGN

Whether or not you're a Star Wars fan, Angry Birds Star Wars is a ton of fun. With its latest, Rovio has proven that Angry Birds can be more than a casual slingshotting time killer. Although it doesn't stray too far from its pick-up-and-play roots, at its best the game contains real challenge and surprisingly clever twists. Gamers will come for the Star Wars references, but they'll stay for the huge variety of perfectly-tuned stages. Bring on more Angry Birds collaborations!

The Guardian

So yes, there are new Angry Birds Star Wars plush toys and heaven knows how many other bits of merchandise, but the game is also an imaginative evolution of the core bird-slinging mechanic, just as Angry Birds Space was before it. Little touches - the new weapons - really do make a difference.

Angry Birds Star Wars is the best Angry Birds game yet, and the best Star Wars spin-off in a long time. It's going to be big, and deservedly so

Unfortunately, Angry Birds Star Wars is not an iOS universal app and has separate versions for iPhone and iPad. But if you're an Angry Birds fan, I think you'll like the way Rovio has integrated the "Star Wars" lore, and the new weapons and Force powers make for unique challenges worthy of your money.

International Business Times

The game comes with three full levels, including Tatooine, the Death Star and Path of the Jedi -- the Hoth level will be unlocked in a forthcoming update -- but the cost of entry, whether you're on an iPhone or iPad, is well worth the purchase for the experience. The music and sound effects never get old, and the gameplay and humor is something any 'Angry Birds' or 'Star Wars' fan could easily enjoy.

Fox News

For a mere dollar on iPhone and Android (or $3 for the stellar iPad HD version), "Angry Birds Star Wars" keeps all the promises of an astonishing crossover intact. Fans of both franchises will absolutely love this and keep coming back for more. Do buy it; there is no "try."
