News on the upcoming Battlefield 4 may have shed some light on the upcoming next generation consoles.
According to Gameranx, someone from EA China revealed new information on the upcoming game and among that information was the fact that the title would be released on upcoming next-generation consoles, including the Playstation 4.
The report listed a number of interesting features in the upcoming title which will be released on October 23, 2013 on the PC, PS 3, Xbox 360, and "next-gen consoles." The report also stated that the game will be the first title of the next generation consoles. The report goes further however stating that the PC, PS 4 and Xbox 720 versions will run at 60 fps and will support up to 64 players, which the PS 3 and Xbox 360 version will not.
This is simply speculation to be sure and the claim that Battlefield 4 will be the first title on next-gen consoles could mean that it will release for the older consoles on October 23, 2013 and then release on later consoles.
Little detail is known on the current next-gen systems, but more information has been revealed on the upcoming PS 4. Recent news indicated that a dev kit has been sent out to developers and the hopes are that the system may run games in full 3D 1080p 60 fps.
Battlefield 4 will be the latest installment in the first person shooter series that spans four titles since 2002 and over 20 expansions.
