After 12 years, Julio Iglesias will release an album specifically dedicated to Mexico.
According to a report from Yahoo News, the 71-year-old will release an album with the title "Mexico - Julio Iglesias." It will be available on September 18 but will give his fans a sweet treat by launching one of his new tracks in the album "Fallaste Corazon" (You Failed My Dear). This news goes against rumors that he is retiring.
The upcoming album will be his first album since his 2006's "Romantic Classic." Iglesias claimed that his album will have 12 songs that will pay tribute to many of Mexico's great songwriters which in his own words he described as "outstanding composers who, generation after generation, filled our lives with love, nostalgia, memories and moments."
"Mexico is a country that I love dearly. The Mexican people have given me many indelible moments in my life. I know this country as if it was my homeland and I always carry it in my soul," Iglesias said.
In another report by NBC News, Iglesias is putting finishing touches on his new album before making it to the press release two months later. The singer who is known not only for his romantic songs but also his love life is named Guinness World Records top-selling Latin artist. He has sold more than 300 million albums since 1968. He has a total of 47 years of hits in the music business as well as over 80 albums.
Iglesias recently went under surgery which fueled rumors that he is ready to say goodbye to the entertainment business. But the singer showed age is but a number and even performed in concerts in Bulgaria, Turkey, Portugal, Romania and Russia this year.
Known as a young sex symbol during his generation, he handed that title to his son Enrique Iglesias who followed his father's footsteps.
Enrique once spoke about his relationship with his father. The singer admitted back then that they seldom saw each other as "each lives his own life."
"The fact of the matter is that we seldom speak. Yes, we are distanced from one another and each lives his own life. And that we see little of each other, yes, we see little of each other," Enrique said.
He added, "The only fight I've probably had with my father, aside from the fights you have when you're a kid, was when I was 18 and we had a serious fight because he thought it was strange for me to become part of the music world and perhaps even stranger that I had never told him about it, and that all of a sudden, I showed up with a record deal and said that I wanted to be a singer." He continued to say, "I left home. I never looked back."
