The year 2016 seems to be one for comic book fans to look forward to. With titles such as: Deadpool, X-Men Apocalypse, Captain America Civil War, Doctor Strange, Suicide Squad, and Gambit, comic book geeks and movie goers alike are all super hyped.
Out of all the upcoming movies to look forward to; the attention has slowly turned two Channing Tatum who will be the leading star in the upcoming comic book movie Gambit from 20th century Fox.
Screenrant reports that the movie is in its early stages and has just acquired Rise of the Planet of The Apes director, Rupert Wyatt. As Channing prepares for the role physically, the question comes to fans mind as to whether the star can pull off a "Cajun" accent. The star himself said he is not sure what he'll sound like speaking in the tongue from the bayou.
Gambit is a Marvel comic book character that has close association with the X-Men. He is known to be a gambler, well adept in using cards as a weapon, agile, with a Cajun accent, and a ladies' man. Channing Tatum certainly has the "ladies' man" part down. Sun Herald reports that Tatum has yet to find a guy who can teach him how to speak in Cajun accent. This is a call for concern among the vast fans as to Tatum's capacity to really sound like Gambit.
Fans would recognize Gambit with an athletic body build, a total contrast to Channing Tatum who is well built. To lose muscle mass, Channing Tatum reported in Entertain This that he does a lot of running and a lot of broccoli. This is the star's way to lose most of the muscle mass he gained from Magic Mike XXl.
New Orleans will be the setting for Gambit's origin story according to producer Reid Carolin. He also said that Gambit's writer Joshua Zetumer's creative choice should keep fans happy. Costume-wise, Gambit's will not be as colourful as in the animated television series and comic book, but will draw inspirations from them as reported by screenart. Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool costume, on the other hand, fully embraced the comic books' version.
As the X-Men franchise draw to a close with X-Men: Apocalypse, Gambit's and Deadpool's future will solely depend on their box-office earnings. Hugh Jackman confirmed that he is done with his iconic mutant character Wolverine.
That being said, Gambit will open in cinemas on Oct 7, 2016.
