Over 50,000 pyrotechnic shells and effects will fill up the New York City skyline Saturday night as NBC televises the 39th Annual "Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular."
Emceed by "Today Show" co-hosts Tamron Hall and Willie Geist, the two-hour broadcast honors our nation's birthday with the theme of bravery, along with segments that pays homage to each of the five branches of the United States military.
Multicolored fireworks transformations, including spider webs, crescent moons, patriotic stars, double hearts, purple rain, and roaring dragons composed of 22 different color hues will fill up the night sky for about 25 minutes.
While fireworks displays are hard to distinguish, one set to Glenn Miller's "In the Mood" will be easy to identify. This year, PryoSpectaculars by Souza added a smiley face that has blinking eyes.
The dazzling show is to be synchronized with live musical performances by Meghan Trainor, Flo Rida, Kelly Clarkson, among other award-winning artists. Gloria and Emilio Estefan's original song, "America," will debut during the broadcast and can be downloaded by heading to Macys.com/fireworks.
The pyrotechnics will be fired from five barges; four set up in midtown between 23rd and 37th street and a double-barge positioned right beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. For those in the area, public viewing section have been set up in the South Seaport district. Access is available on Pearl Street at Frankfort Street and Old Slip on the upper level.
Anyone in the city can watch the dazzling show on the upper level of FDR Drive beginning at 7 p.m. They can access through Houston Street and East 23rd, and 34th and 42nd streets.
