Lebron James is technically a free agent for now but all that should be put to an end soon as he is expected to re-sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers any time soon.
Though James staying in Cleveland is a no-brainer, he did reportedly hand Dan Gilbert a supposed list of Free Agency demands. The said list jots down 10 things (curiously written in Comic Sans presumably by James himself) and arrived via email to Gilbert.
The said list is something that the Cavs will need to address first before he re-signs with the team this coming Summer.
Looking at the list, the things in there seem more of as pranks rather than something serious though it remains to be seen if Gilbert and the Cavs would actually do them.
Among the requests and people concerned include that on how coach David Blatt makes his playcalls. James wants Blatt to make them in the form of a question.
Then there are some requests in the list that covers players.
Some of the players are on the list as well.
That includes poking fun at Shumpert’s hairdo, a specially named jersey for Kendrick Perkins, Varejao be made part of Magic Mike 3 and Delladedova getting a travel crate when the team goes on away games.
The last in the list includes even sending buddy Dwyane Wade some chocolate-covered pineapple as well as some other stuff like President Barack Obama addressing JR’s (Smith) shot selection.
After going through the list, the request seems to be nothing more than James having a light moment with Gilbert and the players on the team.
It wasn’t mentioned when the email was sent but one has to wonder about some of the players addressed in the letter.
One is J.R. Smith who has opted out of his contract with the Cavs. Why address Smith if he is no longer on the team? Could he be coming back?
The Cavs do have plans to re-sign Smith though it may all depend on several factors, salary of which is the most potent one.
Then there is the curious inclusion of Dwyane Wade. Why include someone who isn’t on the team? Was James just trying to be sweet or is there a chance that his buddy would come over in Cleveland?
Like James, Wade has opted out. The NBA All Star guard who has spent his entire career in Miami will be sitting down with Pat Riley soon though there is no assurance that he will remain in South Beach.
The list does seem to be nothing more than a practical joke though it will be interesting if team owner Dan Gilbert does do them. Regardless, such is not expected to sway James from re-signing with the Cavaliers.
