With cinema giants like Marvel, Sony Pictures and Paramount Pictures skipping San Diego Comic Con (SDCC) 2015, the event leaves a lot of room for Twentieth Century Fox to fill the gap. The movie studio has done that by teasing audiences with news for their new X-Men movie "X-Men: Apocalypse."

Director of the film, Brian Singer, gives fans indications that there will be footage from the movie by posting on Instagram a picture showing a 'Rogue Cut' of "X-Men: Days of Future Past." The film has been the highest rating and grossing X-Men movie in the comic book franchise. Singer says that "he hopes he can bring some stuff from #hallh and #xmenapocalypse." Fox also has the coveted Hall H which is the biggest hall for SDCC.

Screenrant confirms that several cast members return to the comic book movie franchise. James McAvoy and Michael Fastbender will return as Professor Xavier and Magneto. It has yet to be confirmed, however, if Hugh Jackman will return as his popular character Wolverine.

The plot of the story will revolve around Professor X and his latest X-Men team trying to fight against Apocalypse (confirmed as Oscar Issac), and his four horsemen. Movieplot claims that there may be new X-Men will be introduced into the story. These characters include Blink, Psylocke, and Jubilee. Other popular X-Men characters such as Storm, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Angel are scheduled to be rebooted for the movie. New actors have also been casted for the movie.

The X-Men franchise is one of the biggest comic series that is yet to be brought back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Earlier this year Marvel was able to win the rights to share the rights to Spiderman from Sony Pictures. Spiderman has been confirmed to star in the "Civil War" movie which is due out in 2016.

With "X-Men: Apocalypse" due out mid-2016, this may be the only time that Fox has to promote the movie during San Diego Comic Con. Experts believe that the time in Hall H will be wasted if Fox doesn't at least show something from the blockbuster movie.

Fox does still own the rights to several Marvel franchises. Deadpool, Fantastic Four, Wolverine, and the X-Men are still owned by Twentieth Century Fox. Several reboots are already done shooting and will see the big screen soon. "Fantastic Four" opens on August 7, 2015, "Deadpool" on February 12, 2016 and "X-Men: Apolcalypse" on May 27, 2016.
