The much anticipated "Tekken 7" release date for the PS4 and Xbox One announcement following a recent tease from the "Tekken" project team that a huge announcement about the game is coming soon.
According to Event Hubs, Tekken Project Twitter account recently posted a tweet that teased that on July 7, 2015, an important announcement regarding the franchise is going to happen. As was noted by Event Hubs, this important announcement will coincide with the celebration of Tekken's 20th anniversary.
That important announcement will be related to "Tekken 7" as the promotional image shows the "Tekken 7" logo along with the main characters of the series, Kazuya Mishima and Heihachi Mishima.
This is the translation of the tweet notes Event Hubs, "For the 20th anniversary of Tekken, we have a very important announcement regarding the Tekken Project on July 7th, 2015. Please look forward to it."
Michael Briers of We Got This Covered speculated that Bandai Namco may announce the much anticipated "Tekken 7" release date for the PS4 and Xbox One, or at the very least a launch window for the game in 2016.
"With nary a mention of a console release date, our bet would be on Bandai Namco finally locking down a launch window for Tekken 7, possibly slating the title for some point in 2016," wrote Michael Briers.
Meanwhile, Steven Schneider of TechTimes.com has speculated that the safest option for Bandai Namco and the Tekken Project Team, should they not announce the "Tekken 7" release date, is to introduce yet another character to game.
Schneider also speculated that while highly unlikely, Bandai Namco may also announce some update to the previously announced "Tekken X Street Fighter", their own version of their crossover fighting game with Capcom.
Some fans have also speculated that the PC version could be announced as only the PS4 and Xbox One versions have been confirmed.
"There are also those who believe that Namco will finally reveal Tekken vs. Street Fighter, the follow-up to Capcom's 2012 crossover brawler. It's been a long time since the games were announced, so there's a possibility that Namco is at last ready to reveal what it's been working on," wrote Schneider.
"Tekken 7" has been given a limited release across arcades in Japan and in some arcades around the world. It would make an appearance on EVO 2015 with a tournament that would have a prize pool of $30,000, according to Shoryuken.com
EVO 2015 is scheduled for July 17-19 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
