Manchester has an straight forward mission on Wednesday: earn at least one point.
A draw would secure their place among the top 16 in the UCL, but a win coupled with a draw or win by Galatasaray would automatically win the group for Man U. The English side has started to look like the team people envisioned since the summer in the last few weeks. Subsequent wins over Chelsea and Arsenal have propelled them to first place in the EPL and they remain one of the few teams in the UCL that have won all three matches. Their last effort against Braga at home was questionable as Sir Alex Ferguson's squad fell behind 2-0 early on, but their resilience in coming back to win certainly showcased their depth. Another positive sign for Man U is the recent emergence of two players who underperformed early on. David de Gea has started to take the reins in goal with the injury to Anders Lindegaard and Javier Hernandez has been on a roll of late with four goals in his last four matches for Man U. He scored a brace against Braga that led to their win two weeks ago and added a game winner against Chelsea the following weekend. Robin van Persie continues to excel for Man U.
Braga currently resides in third place in the Portuguese league, but has shown some sparks in their recent matches. Their 2-0 win over Galatasaray on the road has kept them alive in the tournament, but they desperately need a better performance at home against Man U if they hope to advance past the group stage.
Prediction: Man U looks unstoppable and they will be in this match with a 2-1 win.
