President Barack Obama trails Mitt Romney in total electoral votes, 143 to 153, but has secured the battleground state of Michigan, reports Politico.
This race isn't over, as a number of battleground states have yet to turn either blue or red. These states include: Ohio, Florida, Virginia, Wisconsin, Iowa, Colorado, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.
According to Politico, Obama has won Delaware, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
Romney has taken Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
As of this writing, the former Governor leads by approximately 1000 popular votes.
CBS projects that Obama will take Wisconsin, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania.
Fox News expects an Obama victory in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, and reports an Obama lead, 157 to Romney's 153.
