Microsoft is expected to launch its newest products next month. So far, Microsoft has confirmed that it would be launching its Windows 10 on July 29. The new OS will be offered as a free upgrade for PC and tablets.
Even before Microsoft's Windows 10 confirmation, rumors of the possible unveiling of the next Surface Pro laplet next month were already swirling. In our previous reports, we cited the International Business Times which said that the new laplet will likely come out this July during the launch of the Windows 10. The July launch of the Windows 10 on the other hand was first confirmed by The Verge citing AMD president and CEO Lisa Su. While the Windows 10 seemed to be confirmed by Microsoft already, the Surface Pro 4 remains unsure at the moment.
What would the new Surface Pro 4 look like? At first, it was believed that the new laplet would just be an "enhanced version" of the Surface Pro 3 since the only improvement expected to be in the device is its processor. But more previous reports have speculated that it would be LTE-capable, that it would be available on two sizes -- a 12-inch one and a 14-inch one, and that it would get a 16 GB of RAM.
Inquisitr's source industry analyst Paul Mueller says the next Microsoft Surface Pro laplet would come out this October since the current Surface Pro 3 is still selling. Plus, there's also the Surface 3 laplet which was just unveiled recently.
Previously, there were rumors that the new Surface Pro 4 would come out in May, as detailed by Christian Times and Slash Gear. But it did not happen.
Aside from the Windows 10 and Surface Pro 4, Windows is also said to release the new Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL in July.
Microsoft Phone Marketing Director Neil Broadley earlier said (via Cross Map) that they are to unveil new devices after the availability of the new Windows 10. "We believe the best time to bring those flagship devices to market is when we have our very latest flagship software experience available. We're focusing our flagship development for slightly later when Windows 10 is available," Broadley was quoted as saying.
Though Broadley did not mention any specific handsets, Cross Map bets it's going to be the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL. In our previous report, we detailed about the new devices' possible specs and features. The Lumia 940 is believed to be a 5.2-incher device with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, Snapdragon 808 processor, 32 GB of storage, 3GB of RAM, and 17/20-megapixel main camera. The Lumia 940 XL meanwhile is a larger version of the device.
Microsoft has yet to confirm the rumors about Surface Pro 4, Lumia 940, and Lumia 940 XL.
