Matthew Vaughn confirms plans for "Kingsman: The Secret Service" sequel. Film producer, director, and screenwriter revealed that a sequel might be on the way.

Screen Rant calls "Kingsman" a "dark horse success story" this year. The film was compared to the likes of "James Bond" films but once it was released, audience started raving about the spy action movie's much-anticipated sequel.

"Kingsman" managed to earn $128 million domestically and $400 million worldwide with just around $81 million in budget. It has leapt past the comic book level to a successful international film franchise. This came as a surprise especially for Fox that's why it is rumored that the movie company is moving forward with a sequel and Matthew Vaughn will be writing it.

"Well, the good news is that I'm writing it next door at the moment, If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it. We are doing our damndest to make that happen," Vaughn said during his Yahoo Interview.

Apart from revealing a possible "Kingsman" sequel, Vaughn also hinted that the next film might introduce new characters to the team. An American agent may appear in the potential sequel.

"I'm in love with these characters and I want to work with them again so I'll probably be breaking the rule of [me] tending not to make sequels," Vaughn added.

As of the moment, Vaughn has his hands full with the remake of "Flash Gordon" for Fox. However, the British filmmaker is known for dropping out from films he doesn't feel strongly about. He ditched "Thor", "X-Men: The Last Stand", and "X-Men: Days of Future Past" so he might need some extra motivation for the "Kingsman" sequel.

"I have to feel inspired and that I'm doing something different, and pushing my boundaries. In sequels normally you're doing just more of the same. I'm trying to re-invent how to do a sequel at the moment - it's tough. The bottom line is I have to feel excited and to think I'm making something new when I make a film," he said.

"Kingsman: The Secret Service" tells the story of a super-secret spy organization that recruits an unrefined but promising street kid into the agency's ultra-competitive training program just as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius," stated Comingsoon.net.

The "Kingsman" movie is well packed with respected actors like Oscar winners Colin Firth and Michael Caine. It also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Mark Strong, Taron Egerton, Sofia Boutella and Sophie Cookson.

It premiered last February in the USA and is already available in DVD and Blu-ray.
