Jennifer Lopez could get into some serious trouble for being "too sexy." An educational group from Morocco is suing the singer/actress for her "sexualized" performance at the Mawazine World Rhythms International Music Festival last month.
It looks like there is such a thing as "too sexy" and people could go to jail for it. In a report by Fox News Latino, Jennifer Lopez is sued by an educational group in Morocco after her provocative show that was televised on May 29. The group claims that JLo's performance "disturbed public order and tarnished women's honor and respect."
In the event that everything turns sour for Lopez and she gets convicted, she will have to face one month to two years in prison. Although it may seem like an overreaction for some, especially if JLo's show was compared to that of Lady Gaga or Madonna, the audience in Morocco branded the sexy Latina's performance as a "breach of public decency."
Lopez was in her usual body-hugging costumes which is a bit more conservative that what she used to wear. Her management also made sure to make a few alterations with the performance in case it offends strict conservatives but unfortunately for Lopez, their efforts to were not enough.
A report by Stuff.co.nz suggested that while Jennifer Lopez as well as some other western artists has more than enough liberty with regards to their performances in much "open" countries, they have to tread carefully in more conservative countries such as North Africa and Middle East.
"Rihanna swapped her usual skimpy shorts for full body coverings when performing in Abu Dhabi and Lady Gaga arrived in Dubai in a full length dress and performed in far more covering than would be seen at her shows in other corners of the world," the magazine reports.
Along with Lopez, the Mawazine International Music Festival in Morocco also included performances from Akon, Usher, Sting, Pharell Williams and Maroon 5. Lopez and her management haven't given out any statement about the issue. It seems like the Latina will be more focused on her work now that she is going to back again on TV. Jennifer Lopez won't be back as an "American Idol" judge but this time she will be playing as a cop in upcoming police drama "Shades of Blue." The singer will also star in the movie "Lila and Eve" alongside Viola Davis which will hit the theaters on July 17.
