Next to the iPad Mini, Apple's latest 9.7-inch tablet is released today.

The iPad with Retina Display, also known as the iPad Fourth Generation (iPad 4), is available in stores following its preorders launch last Friday. Shipments of the iPad 4, or even the iPad Mini, could experience delays for those that have preordered but not due to high sales but due to Hurricane Sandy.

For the meanwhile, the iPad 4's Wi-Fi exclusive model was released in 34 countries. The Wi-Fi with Cellular model will be released later this month.

The 34 countries are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and the United States.

Prices for the iPad 4's Wi-Fi model starts at $499 for the 16GB variant, $599 for 32GB, and $699 for 64GB.

When it comes to specs and features, it is basically the same as its predecessor, iPad 3.

The iPad 4 maintains its 9.7-inch screen with a pixel resolution of 1,536x2,048 with up to 164 pixels per inch (ppi).

The battery life is the same with up to 720 hours on standby time and 10 hours on talk time.

Two major differences is the processor and half the camera.

The iPad 4 utilizes the A6X chip that has been test and promoted by Apple to run twice as fast than the iPad 3's A5x chip

The other difference is the front-facing camera, also known as the FaceTime HD camera, uses 1.2-megapixels and uses 720p at 30 frames per second. The rear-facing camera is the same as the iPad 3 with five-megapixels and 2,592x1,944 pixel resolution.

Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n and Bluetooth version 4.0.

The iPad 4 can also be purchased in black or white variants.
