Newly engaged Australian female rapper Iggy Azalea announced that she is cancelling her first arena tour. In her official statement with Seventeen Magazine, the singer said that she is calling off the tour because she deserves a break.
The 24-year-old "Fancy" singer revealed in Seventeen Magazine the real reason why she is cancelling her "Great Escape" tour. The singer said that she needed a "creative change of heart" and would want to start totally anew.
"I've had a different creative change of heart. I want to start totally anew, and if I stayed on my tour, that would mean I wouldn't even be able to start working on that until after Christmas," Iggy explained.
Another reason is the singer wants to go on a well-deserved break. She cited that she worked almost every single day in the past two years. She explained further that having a physical and mental break from all the work will give her a better perspective on how she wants her music to progress.
"On top of that, mentally, to be honest with you, I just feel I deserve a break. I've been going non-stop for the past two years, nearly every single day. I'm not in a bad place. It's very emotionally draining to be on all the time and going all the time, planning all the time. It's a lot, and it's tough. I need a break from everything to just enjoy what I worked so hard for, and I don't really feel like I've had a chance to do that. I need a break to figure out what I want my sound to progress to, and I need a break to figure out how I want my visuals to progress," Azalea stated.
Iggy also described herself as a "musician and creative person" who wants to be able to offer some new things to her audience. She also noted that she didn't want to disappoint her fans but it was "the best thing" that she had to make.
"It's not easy to decide that the best thing to do is cancel a tour, but that's the best thing for me. I don't want to disappoint fans. I feel really bad. It was a tough decision to make, but it was the best thing," she noted.
Although she is feeling terrible about cancelling he tour, the singer still has a lot to celebrate. According to In Touch Weekly, Nick Young popped Iggy the question on Monday with a $500,000 custom engagement ring. Iggy posted a picture of her 10.43 carats diamond ring with a caption that said, "Happiest Day #Isaidyes."
