"Resident Evil 6" reportedly disappointed several longtime fans of the game, thus resulting to a clamor for a seventh installment of the famous franchise.
Venture Capital Post said that "Resident Evil 7" was not unveiled at E3 2014, so people are highly anticipating that game developer Capcom will finally introduce the next installment at E3 in June 2015. Superdata, a digital analyst group, may have suggested that "Resident Evil 7" will be released late in 2015.
SuperData wrote in February 2015, "We anticipate this month's downturn to level off during the coming few months, following a regular seasonal pattern but expect to see an upswing as the next editions of several major franchises like Halo and Resident Evil come out in the 2015 fall season."
SuperData also added that the next big edition of "Resident Evil" is expected to be available in the same period when "Halo 5: Guardians" will likely be released. Although the PlayStation 4 as the only gaming console mentioned, the game will most likely be playable on the Xbox One too.
BreatheCast previously reported that there are rumors that new characters will be added for "Resident Evil 7". Alice might be returning to the game for the seventh installment, but it was clarified that a movie character will not be included in the list of new characters. There will allegedly be three new characters, with two being female.
WhatCulture wrote that fans might see more of Barry Burton and Claire Redfield in the next installment. Capcom might refer back to a few backstories to keep the story fresh without deviating much from its roots. A simpler virus might be introduced to allow players to focus more on the gameplay, instead of the storyline, considering how the latter has never been a strong factor in the series. It can even mean that the plot may not include a virus at all. "Resident Evil 7" may emphasize the atmosphere more, because it was one of the major weaknesses of the sixth version. Furthermore, the cinematic camera angles might make a comeback, bringing back the fear and thrill along.
WhatCulture also mentioned that zombies might be the main enemy again, which will bring back the appeal that the series became popular for. Main villain Albert Wesker is also rumored to reappear. Overall, "Resident 7" is believed to return to the franchise's roots to redeem itself from the issues that arose in its predecessors and appeal to its loyal gamers again.
