Former 'White Collar' actress and blue-eyed beauty Alexandra Daddario recently opened up about the film adaptation for E.L. James' bestselling erotic thriller '50 Shades of Grey' and the rumors that she and former costar Matt Bomer are in the running for the lead roles. Bomer has been a fan favorite for weeks despite some complaints that he cannot play the role of Christian Grey because he is gay.

"I think he'd be great," Daddario told Wetpaint at the SuperTrash Flagship Store Grand Opening in New York earlier this month. She added that Bomer does a convincing job of playing a straight man on 'White Collar.' "Yes, he does," the 26-year-old actress said. "He definitely does."

The actress, which has stared on multiple films and TV shows, added, "I don't think that should figure into whether someone gets a role or not."

While she admitted that she had not yet read the erotic thriller series, she called rumors of her casting as Anastasia Steele "really flattering" and "awesome."

The list of actresses for the role of 21-year-old Anastasia Steele, the doe-eyed college student who falls for millionaire Christian Grey is quite lengthy, with new actresses being added each week. Daddario joins fan favorites Alexis Bledel and Nina Dobrev as well as Mila Kunis, Emma Watson, Lucy Hale, Emilia Clarke and others.

In an ongoing poll by Latinos Post, 'Gilmore Girls' actress Alexis Bledel has taken the overwhelming lead with 45.76 percent of the votes. She's trailed by 'Vampire Diaries' star Nina Dobrev, with 15.49 percent of the votes.

The role of Christian Grey has also been the talk of '50 Shades' fans, with new actors constantly being added. Daddaria's former coworker Matt Bomer is joined by actors Ian Somerhalder, Alexander Skarsgard, Henry Cavill and Jared Padalecki in the race for the lead role. Bomer and Somerhalder have been battling it out in Latinos Post's ongoing poll, with Somerhalder taking a slight lead with 39.44 percent of the votes to Bomer's 33.37 percent.

Casting for the highly anticipated film may take some time as the film has yet to have a script. Producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti announced they had chosen 'Terra Nova' screenwriter Kelly Marcel to write the erotic thriller's script. Universal Pictures and Focus Films purchased the rights to the film earlier this year.

A release date for the first film in the series, '50 Shades of Grey,' has yet to be announced.
