Sony Pictures Entertainment has at last released a Red Band trailer for the Evil Dead remake, the latest entry in the beloved franchise that defined Bruce Campbell's career and exposed Sam Raimi's unique filmmaking style to the world.

Fans will be relieved to hear that director Fede Alvarez has decided to rely heavily on practical effects as opposed to CG. In an interview with Collider, Evil Dead star Jane Levy states, "A lot of our effects-I think most of them-are practical effects. There is actual vomit in my mouth. The windows are actually breaking. I did shoot a gun. There's not much CG. The makeup artists are incredible. I did all that. I was strangled. I was hung up on the hardness. I did it myself and I think you'll feel that in the movie, and it will make it that much scarier, that much more authentic."

Sony's official plot synopsis reads, "In the much anticipated remake of the 1981 cult-hit horror film, five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin. When they discover a Book of the Dead, they unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival."

The film was penned by Sam Raimi and is produced in part by Bruce Campbell, assuring that the original creative team has significant input on the direction of the remake.

The film stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Luca, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Elizabeth Blackmore.

Expect Evil Dead in theaters on April 12, 2013.
